Hey guys,
The wine tasting scheduled for this Saturday Nov. 1 is going to be moved to a later date. Once a new date has been assigned I will send an email and post a new blog. Thanks

Guys,
We need volunteers to start donating their books so we can get this book swap going. I will be donating 2 books and Ed says he has about 4 he’s willing to give towards the cause. Remember, when you donate a book, you are given credit to check out book that you can use for your class. You can keep it all semester long, we just ask that you return it when you are done using it. If enough people donate we can get a good set of books going. Also, it would be nice if it can be done every semster to keep the book list fresh. Thanks.
Jorge
Hello everyone!
I am interested in getting a head count to see how many people would be intersted in attending a golf clinic at the Practice Tee on Nolana. I was thinking of doing it on the weekend, Im not sure what time would be good preferably after sundown. I say golf clinic but really its gonna be just anyone who knows how to play golf giving others pointers. I will bring extras sets of golf clubs so that everyone who wants to try it out can. I am also thinking of taking a barbque pit over there. Ya, they let you do that there and of course they do have refreshments there. Let me know what you guys think because I have to call it in first to reserve the space. Also, I was thinking of tyring do it this coming weekend and holding the Wine Tasting at my house the following weekend or Nov 1st. Please, register for the blog and make your opinions known.
Thanks,
Jorge
This exciting global event is an attempt to build upon the extraordinary success of Entrepreneurship Week 2007 in the U.S. and Enterprise Week 2007 in the U.K. The Kauffman Foundation along with global sponsors IBM, Ernst & Young, and NYSE Euronext are organizing this unprecedented opportunity to promote entrepreneurship around the world. Currently there are more than 71 countries represented with more than 1,000 organizations in the U.S. alone hosting events. UTPA will be holding several events such as a business plan competition, a movie night, and an entrepreneurship bootcamp focused on technology commercialization. In particular, the tech commercialization event being held at the Engineering Auditorium (ENGR 1.300) on Saturday November 22 will be of great value to anyone interested in tech startups and collaborating with innovative engineers here at UTPA. At this event you will be able to learn about the technological innovations being developed at UTPA, find out about incubation opportunities, learn the ins and outs of Intellectual Property, network with innovative engineers from this region looking for collaborations with business professionals, and learn how to contact and pitch to Angels and Venture Capitalists. There will be speakers, a networking luncheon, and even a linkup to a university in China.
I hear that Damian is putting together a wine tasting! Pour me a glass (or two, three …)
Make A Difference Day 2008
“Put your own cares on hold for one day to care for someone else.”
This is the simple idea that started National Make a Difference Day. It is the country’s largest single day of volunteering. Last year, 3 million people set aside one day to change all corners of the earth.
To be successful, we need your help! The Student Leadership Academy will be hosting a post-Dolly clean up for the city of Harlingen in conjunction with National Make a Difference Day, on Saturday, October 25, 2008. For more information or to request special accommodations, please contact Amy Martin or Annette Torres at 381-2260.
Do we need a designated driver for the event at BJ’s on October 4th?
Hello MBA Students,
For those of you who have given thought of what the MBA association can offer or what you can offer the MBA Association.
A small group of us after our official meeting way back when got together and tried to hash out some ideas on how to get interesting topics and create cool new events for the MBA association. We came up with three domains that MBA students can contribute and participate to help our association grow.
